Czechoslovak modernist Illustration of the 1950s and 1960s and Its Influence on the Identities of Contemporary Czech Artists>

A doctoral thesis “Czechoslovakian modernist illustration of the 1950s and 1960s and its influences in the contemporary Czech visual culture” is focused on how a modernist illustration of the 1950s and 1960s influences Czech contemporary authors, especially illustrators. We can witness a particularly strong influence of the above mentioned modernist illustration and visual culture of that period in general among producers employing digital tools and vector graphics served. The thesis contains a historical study which follows developments of the visual language of graphic arts (illustration in particular) in the 1950s and 1960s in relation to fine arts. There is a special focus on a position of the 1960s’ modernist illustration within the applied arts of the period. Biographical study dedicated to illustrator M. Šašek introduce key figure of the (late) modernist period.
The Relationships of Contemporary Fine and Applied Art

Diploma thesis deals with the relations between the contemporary free and applied art. It explores the possibilities of bidirectional permeation and trapping of these areas. In this thesis I´m trying to touch the border points between sculpture, painting, drawing and design Diploma work deals with the theme of the wall relief. I´m using conceptual principles and these principles are often unclear on the outside. by using the conceptual keys and contexts i´m trying to create the aesthetic quality of the artwork. In a practical thesisis i´m working with wall sculptures and folding picture. Art can often change their nature and their perceptions using a different composition, adjustment, or context with the surroundings. I´m working with possibilities of understanding to every single artistic element as part of a wider whole. This thesis consists of a wall relief sculptures. The composition components are all facing the wall, eventually. column. In this thesis combines the individual relief under a particular key.
Galerie bratří Čapků and its exhibition activities in the second half of the 1960s

The diploma thesis deals with documenting and presenting the exhibition concept of the Brothers Capek Gallery in the second half of the 1960s and at the same time defining the space it occupied among other Prague galleries in the observed period between 1965 and 1970. It focuses on the founding personalities and recalls important political, legal and cultural events that fundamentally influenced the artistic and exhibition activities of the gallery. The exhibition catalogues of individual artists and creative groups with introductory texts, invitations to openings and reviews in the professional and daily press have become an important aid to understanding the gallery's exhibition programme and interpreting individual exhibitions, illustrating the overall scope of the gallery.
Moser Glassworks in the 20th Century

The topic of the Bachelor's thesis is the Moser glassworks and its period since the peak of its work, which reached the beginning of the 20th century when relations with Austria-Hungary brought the glassworks an international response, which persists to the present day. Specifically, in this thesis is defined the period of the 20th century, when it comes to technology, processing, collection, and the largest event associated with the Moser glassworks in this period. The first part of the text mentions the general, historical development of the glass industry in the Czech territory, which is mentioned with the Great Industrial Revolution, which led to the rise of industry, in this case also the glass industry and when has begun the unstoppable development of technology in this sector. The main part of the text is devoted to the 20th century, when many events took place on its basis based on developing new processes in glass processing by this glassworks and when product collections were created, presented at the most prestigious exhibitions, or created for specific orders. Abstract The theme of this diploma work, that came out partly from the preceding bachelor work, which was dedicated to the art nuovo decor in Prague ecclesiastical milieu, is Josef Fanta's (1856-1954) designs for ecclesiastical purpose in the field of applied art, which have never been published so far. Josef Fanta is mainly known only as an architect, author of the Prague Central Station building and has never been studied in more details. The main aim of this diploma paper is trying to evaluate the almost 100 years lasting life and work. The chosen segment of his wide creative activities, ornamenta ecclesiae - liturgical textile and equipment, is suprisingly plentiful group including number of prestigious orders. Jan Kotík 1916-2002 - A Monograph

1 Abstract A monograph on Jan Kotík (1916-2002) introduces both his art and theoretical work, it deals with a historical and cultural context of the now-defunct Czechoslovakia. Kotík's - an artist's, theoretician's, published author's, educator's - artwork enjoys a prominent position in the context of Czech art of the second half of 20th century. An art-historical assessment of artwork was based on Kotik's artwork inventory and on all the documentation on Kotik's life and art work archived in the Documentation Department of the Institute of Art History of the Academy of Sciences of the CR and in private archives in the CR and Berlin. The study is based on a method of organic combination of biographical data and art-historical data with quotation of Kotik's theoretical texts. An evolution of artist's work is demonstrated chronologically with the context to Czech and world art. The monograph includes chapters: "Father Pravoslav's Art Studio and Study Years", "Art Group 42", "Possibilities of Applied Art", "Painting-Object", "Stay in Berlin", "Returns".

5 ABSTRACT The subject of this diploma work is the documentation and presentation of program contents of the new exhibition at "Svaz československých výtvarných umělců" in Prague 6 Dejvice between the years 1964 to 1972, which carried the name of Czech theoretic artist, Vincenc Kramář. This diploma work is divided into three distinct parts. The first part focuses on the founders of the gallery and briefly about the personality of Vincenc Kramář. The second part is devoted to the work posted in the gallery between 1964 and 1972. The final part of the work explores the question of what place and position the Vincenc Kramář Gallery holds in comparison to other galleries during the same period. The introduction of the work comments on society and politics of the 1960s in the context of "fine arts", which was an era marked by the official tendencies of the socialist realism of the decade previous. The introduction also includes the process of creating and building a new exhibition hall into this era. This work demonstrates changes that have occurred in the perception, classification and finally democratization of design, by the example of textile art and personality of Marie Teinitzerová, who was at the interface of fine art, handicraft and design and significantly contributed to the promotion of new aesthetic values in all of these areas.
Projection of Japanese inspiration in Art Nouveau interiors

Projection of Japanese inspiration in Art Nouveau interiors Bachelor thesis approaches the influence of Japanese motifs and design in residential interior design at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. Initially focused on the opening of borders between Japan and Europe in the 19th century. Designers are mostly inspired by Japanese woodcuts, asymmetries, flatness and new themes that the Western world had only slightly. A pioneer happened Aesthetic movement, which in the 60th and 70th of the 19th century were the first to use the Japanese elements, which are primarily reflected in the interior design and decorative objects. The emphasis in the thesis is on the most important sector of Applied Arts in interior design - furniture, glass, ceramics and textiles in the period 1890 - 1910.
